Afro-Cuban Jazz Moods, reune a Machito y aDizzy Gillespie (con arreglos de Chico O'Farrill), este disco obtuvo nominaciones para el Grammy en dos categorías: jazz y música latina. La banda actuó en los más importantes festivales de jazz y efectuó giras por Europa y Japón.
La carrera de amboas circual por varios generos pero en Afro-Cuban Jazz Moods incluye sintetizadores y elementos del rock. Y en Fireworks, donde participan como solistas Lew Soloff, Bobby Porcelli, Charlie Palmieri y Nicky Marrero, hay números salseros, elementos de jazz.
